All of our parts are created by hand laying fabrics into moulds, so we take special care with each part, from grinding and drilling to polishing and edge smoothing. We know that every detail matters in motorsport.
RACEX HISTORY
Multiple rallycross champion Jan Skála and carbon fibre specialist Filip Zavadil joined forces in 2015, when they started producing parts for racing cars under the RaceX brand.
Originally we wanted to produce our own carbon products under the RaceX brand. Eventually, we reconsidered this plan, as the company has been winning contracts on lucrative projects from the position of a supplier since its inception.
JAN SKÁLA: FROM RACER TO SUCCESSFUL ENTREPRENEUR
Jan Skála is not only the CEO of RaceX, but also a car racer who has managed to make it on the race track and win several valuable titles.
He competed in his first race at the age of 14 and for the next 5 years his home discipline was rallycross, where he won several Czech and Austrian championship titles with his Peugeot 205. His victory in the 2009 Formula STAR national talent competition earned him a place in the Czech Championship in Division 3 with single seater formula cars. Jan dominated his only circuit season and became the 2010 Czech Circuit Champion.
Thanks to his great results, Jan was among the 20 most talented juniors from all over the world and was able to participate in the final shootout of the FIA Young Driver Excellence Academy 2011. A year later, he competed in the European Rallycross Championship, but the lack of a stable financial background, which is essential in motorsport, began to show. After this season, Jan was forced to interrupt his career.
But he never stopped looking for ways to get back into the race car. That was the driving force behind starting a business in 2015 to earn him money for racing. After years dedicated to building the business, John decided to return to motorsports in 2021. This time into rallying, which has been called the queen of motorsport because of its difficulty.
Thanks to contacts made in the business, he sometimes manages to introduce Czech fans to machines that have never raced in the Czech Republic. For example, the Citroen C3 WRC. Jan made his first World Rally Championship start at the home Central European Rally 2023.
FILIP ZAVADIL: THE FIRST IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC TO PRODUCE A CARBON MONOCOQUE
Filip Zavadil was introduced to composite materials in 2010 when he participated in the international Formula Student competition while studying at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague. He was competing against more than 800 teams from all over the world and collaborated on the design of a new single seater. He used composites mainly for the bodywork.
However, he soon discovered that composite materials have modifiable mechanical properties and can be used in other ways. He therefore started to create functional parts out of them, which he enjoyed so much that he dedicated his bachelor and master thesis to them. The result?
In 2013, Filip Zavadil produced the first monocoque in the Czech Republic. It was used on the FS.05 car of the CTU CarTech team as a replacement for the front part of the tubular steel frame. It was a complete safety compartment for the crew, protection for the fuel system, front axle mounting, front crash box element and rear frame section with power unit and rear axle.
The following year, Filip took on a new challenge – he was faced with the complete development and production of carbon composite 10″ rims for the FS.06 car. This time he used 3D printing in combination with composites.
The development of the first monocoque in the Czech Republic earned Filip a win in the 2014 Porsche Engineering Award international thesis competition. He was given the chance to develop composite parts for Porsche. Instead, he went into business with Jan Skála and together they founded RaceX.
